If you’re looking for a really “vibrant” restaurant, it’s hard to beat this “above-average” Italian, near House of Fraser; admittedly, it’s on the “pricey” side, but “glimpses of actors and minor football stars” offer some compensation. read more
I notice lot people talk about celebrity about atmosfere but few people talk about the food tasteless and 99% off food waste covered with a lot and say a lot cream coz the people in side are without food knowledge most have got a past in Italy as builder some as driver may one or two are cook not even chef they doesnt know why some time you put garlic or onion. the politics in side is anyting you throw away in your home here you can give to the customer doesnt matter VIP or normal people check and later answer me back ask food without cream and strange sauce you will see what terrible meal you will have .I want be onest wouldnt give that food not even to my dog enjoy the meal go go to san carlo
I was In San Carlo King Street last Saturday. My partner and myself we had a wonderful dinner, with great food and fantastic service. We saw the Manchester United players celebrating in the Restaurant the Winning of the Premiership Title. We had a glimpse of the Cup too, the atmosphere was electrifying, outside of the restaurant it was full of photographers it was like being in dreamland, I don’t remember ever having a night like that. We are so happy that we have a restaurant like this in Manchester, being the celebrities favourite place gives us the opportunity to live a bit of the high life. The prices are low compared to some of the other restaurants, I suppose is because of the large amount of people they serve every day maybe helps to keep the prices down. Even if my partner and I are not famous they still made us feel important and they went out of their way to please us. Yes this is definitely the best Restaurant in Manchester. Thank You San Carlo just to be here

My boyfriend took me to San Carlo because he’d heard that loads of Man Utd players go there (unfortunately none spotted this time!). We’d also heard lots of good things about the restaurant from various magazines and websites so we wanted to give it a try! It was very busy, fortunately we had booked. There was a small queue inside the reception area but we were all seated within 5 minutes which was great. There was a great atmosphere in there I must say, a real Italian buzz. The waiter was really friendly and patient, not rushing us at all when we couldn’t make our mind up. My boyfriend asked him about all the Man Utd players that come in to the restaurant, so the waiter obviously jumped at the chance to tell stories of serving Ronaldo etc! I ordered Risotto San Carlo which I must say, as a big risotto fan, I give a resounding A+! My boyfriend indulged himself and ordered a fillet steak with some Italian sauce and some melted cheese! Looked pretty amazing! All in all, we had a fantastic night and the amazing food will give my boyfriend an excuse to bring me back to try and get a glimpse of some United players!

Dear Sir or Madam,
I recently attended a hen night that had been booked in your restaurant and was very disappointed by the service we received.
Firstly the booking was split across 2 tables and we were told this was policy but we had not been told this on booking.
When we queried this we were told we could be on the same table when the people at the next table left.
We were also told there was no point as the people put on the table would be as far away as if they were on the separate table.
We insisted and we were put together.
The orders were taken and the starters were then brought and some were incorrect.
The waiter then tried to bully members of the group into eating the wrong order by saying “you ordered this” and “you will eat this”.
Some people did cave in to the bullying.
Some members of the group wanted to pay for their wine separately and had to ask 4 times for the bill to be brought.
This was obviously such a problem because if the wine was not on the bill the service charge would be lower.
The mains were brought and they were correct but the sides were not or were brought after the food had been half eaten.
The service was so poor that we did not even stay for desserts or coffees.
To then put a service charge of 10% (£36.20) on the bill is disgusting.
Obviously, the renowned restaurant we had understood we were booking is only if you are famous, or in a party of less than 4.
I had been hoping that the experience would have been enjoyable as I will be booking a hen night for next year and this restaurant was mentioned in the planning.
I certainly shall not be doing now as the hen was disappointed and upset and still upset the next morning.
Kind regards,
Lucy McDonald.

First time at San Carlo in Manchester it was amazing food, the lobster thermidor was beautiful along with the great range of wines.... the atmosphere was fantastic with a mixture of young trendy couples, groups to old godfather type people drapped in expensive jewellery.!!! Had a great time would really recommend it. And not over priced either!!! So get yourselves there if you want the best Italian food in the city.

San Carlo is my favourite Italian restaurant in Manchester - it's such a cool venue, with great decoration and the food is just awesome. You never have to wait long to be served, or for the food to arrive, regardless of how busy they are! Great restaurant - highly recommended!

We reguarly dine at San Carlo and love the atmosphere in there. The food is always fabulous - yes, it's above the price of your high street chain Italian, but it's on a completely different level. The portion sizes are perfect - not too much so you feel so full afterwards that you can't move, but definitely an ample portion that fills you perfectly. The staff are lovely too - Alessandro is always very welcoming, which is a nice change. Head to San Carlo if you're looking for a nice restaurant that's defintely not a high street chain
Overrated and overpriced...get to piccolinos, far better and wonderful stafff.. ettore is amazing!

I love eating at San Carlo - the food is always fresh, the service is fast and efficient, and the restaurant is beautifully decorated. We ate at San Carlo on Friday, and was surprised at the level of service we received, despite it being very busy. The staff are always so lovely - they're very friendly and helpful, and make you feel welcome whenever you visit. A great restaurant in the centre of Manchester - well done San Carlo!
